A cheeky SATB Sax Quartet piece of around 4 minutes duration by UK Composer Keri Degg.
New for October 2013 is our unashamedly funky Saxofrolic SATB Saxophone quartet, by UK Composer Keri Degg. Around 4 minutes duration and aimed at intermediate to advanced players (typically grades 5/6+ should cope) this original quartet makes a lively addition to any quartet library.
Written as a commission for the Nottingham based Saxophone Quartet Persiflage, the piece explores a sedate (almost chorale-like) deceptive opening theme before launching into the funky groove introduced by the Baritone sax. You will also hear a short play off between the soprano and alto (duelling saxes?!) and a haunting waltz. With occasional inclusions of 3,3,2 metre bars the quartet gives just the right balance of being playable whilst also providing a little challenge to keep players on their toes.
You can hear a digital interpretation here (and remember....don't be fooled by the serious sounding opening few bars!);
